Do this before your first vet visit.
On your first appointment, we will gather information about your pet’s background, health, diet, and training. We can also address any questions or concerns you might have. If you do not have an appointment yet, please call us at (832) 307-3366 to find an appropriate time for a visit.
The veterinarian at Harmony Pet Clinic will examine your pet from nose-to-tail, looking for any signs of heart murmurs, ear infections, lumps or bumps, skin problems, etc. We could also recommend different tests to check for certain infectious diseases and/or parasites. We provide pet-proofing tips, training assistance, and parasite protection recommendations. We give a detailed health plan for your pet along with the estimated cost of each service in advance.
Your first visit to the veterinarian with your pet can seem a daunting task. There are ways to make it easier and fun or less anxious for both of you. Please see the following list of info and resources to help you prepare your fur baby’s first visit to the veterinarian:
Please fill the New Client Form prior to your first visit.
Assemble and be sure to bring all the proper items with you:
- Your pet’s adoption or purchase records
- Any existing medical history
- A list of current medications and supplements
- Current feeding schedule and the brand of food you use
- A list of questions you have for your veterinarian
Collect any necessary stool or urine samples if requested.
If you are bringing in your dog, be sure he or she is accustomed to being on a short leash.
For cats, please bring them in a cat carrier with a towel or blanket. Cats feel more secure in tight enclosed spaces rather than open and loose.
You can add some catnip in cat carrier and Feliway spray can help reduce some anxiety.
Try not to feed your pet too much immediately before the appointment. A hungry pet can be easily distracted and befriended by giving treats while at veterinarian’s office.
Feel free to bring your pet’s favorite treats and toys to keep them happy and distracted!
